CARDIAC CACHEXIA AND CLINICAL OUTCOME OF CHRONIC HEART FAILURE DUE TO RHEUMATIC HEART DISEASE

چکیده
Background: Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) is still a significant cause of cardiovascular morbidity and death in developing countries like Indonesia. However, despite being one the most preventable chronic diseases, RHD receives less attention, especially Southeast Asia. PJR that not treated immediately can develop into heart failure. When failure has entered stage congestive failure, there activation complex network metabolic, immune, characteristic neurohormonal factors result cachexia. Cachexia be an indicator decreased survival patients with due to RHD. Objective: To determine relationship between cachexia clinical outcomes at RSUD Dr. Soetomo. Methods: This study was analytic observational using retrospective cohort design. Data were collected by taking secondary data form patient medical records. There 106 who taken non-probability sampling technique. Correlation determined Mann-Whitney test Chi-square test. Result: A total consisted 53 people without cachexia, represented both groups dominated female (57.6%), largest age range late adulthood (36-45 years) (32.1%). Education level mostly came from schools 71 (66.9%) groups. The common type valve lesion mitral stenosis (53.7%). frequency hospitalization more frequent average 1.25 times compared 1.02 times. Mortality higher as many 7 per (0.13%) 3 (0.06%). With chi-square tests, it found had no effect on (p=0.453) mortality (p=0.319). Conclusion: Clinical are

Background/Objective: To clarify the state of different immunologic factors in patients with acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) compared to healthy individuals.Patients and Methods: Patients with ARF (#21), patients with RHD six months after the onset of ARF (#19), and healthy children from the same age group with normal physical examination and no history of pharyngi...
متن کاملHeart transplantation for advanced heart failure due to cardiac sarcoidosis.
BACKGROUND Selected patients with cardiac sarcoidosis undergo heart transplantation, but outcomes may be adversely affected by recurrent cardiac sarcoidosis or progressive extra-cardiac sarcoidosis. OBJECTIVES We present our single-center experience of patients with cardiac sarcoidosis who underwent heart transplantation. METHODS Consecutive patients that underwent heart transplantation bet...
متن کاملHeart failure-induced cachexia.
Heart failure patients often develop cachexia, which is an independent factor for survival reduction. Cachexia can be diagnosed when there is loss of more than 6% of the body weight, in the absence of other diseases. Even though its pathophysiology has not yet been completely clarified, various factors seem to be involved, such as reduction in food consumption, gastrointestinal tract abnormalit...
متن کاملEstimating clinical morbidity due to ischemic heart disease and congestive heart failure: the future rise of heart failure.
OBJECTIVES Many developed countries have seen declining mortality rates for heart disease, together with an alleged decline in incidence and a seemingly paradoxical increase in health care demands. This paper presents a model for forecasting the plausible evolution of heart disease morbidity. METHODS The simulation model combines data from different sources. It generates acute coronary event ...
